Set up a nectar cafe

The air is buzzing with the excitement of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and it’s got me thinking about sowing seeds in my own garden. This year I decided to make a conscious effort to set up a nectar cafe in the borders of my garden to entice more butterflies, moths and bees.

A website called Wild about Gardens, set up jointly by the RHS and the Wildlife Trust has a useful page packed with tips to get your nectar cafe started and the RHS has produced a very helpful plant list.

In my garden I have fragrant Verbena, intoxicating honeysuckle, sweet wallflowers, primroses, lavender and plenty of holly and ivy.  I love bright splashes of colour, so after looking at the nectar cafe webpage, this month my children have sown some seeds of Cosmos Sensation.

I’ve teamed up with Mr Fothergill’s for the perfect plant seeds Giveaway; for ten lucky readers I have a packet of Cosmos Sensation Mixed seeds!

For a chance to win a packet, leave a comment about what you are growing in your garden or window box to entice insects. You can also Follow us on Twitter, Like us on Facebook, Retweet the Giveaway or subscribe to my newsfeed. Competition closes 29th May (so that you can plant your seed packet in time).

Good luck!
